Building energy rating (BER)
A BER is similar to the energy label for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient.
Although a BER is now mandatory if you are selling or renting a building, it is also a fantastic diagnostic tool if you are thinking about improving the efficiency of your home.
After the BER has been calculated for your home, energy improvements can be entered into the software to quantify how much they will improve the efficiency.
This will allow you to make an informed decision on which improvements to make.
